A short ceremony can include several stops
Note whether outdoor photographs, a walk or a restaurant visit follow the ceremony. Choose shoes for that route rather than only the room. With a long dress or wide trousers, check the hem with that exact pair. A planned shoe change needs somewhere to happen and a bag.
An existing combination of fabric trousers and a blouse may be as suitable as a dress. Start with a piece that fits the couple's wishes and that you enjoy wearing for a while. Add a jacket if you will wait outside or need another layer later.
Check small details calmly
Try the outfit while sitting and standing. With a jacket, check that the sleeves of the top have enough room beneath it. A narrow sleeve can pull an otherwise comfortable blouse upward as you move. Leave the jacket open if that works for you, or choose another layer.
Jewellery and the bag can be quiet or more noticeable if they fit the requested setting. They do not need to be bought for this occasion. Check that the bag holds what you need and does not have to remain in your hand during photographs or greetings.
Prepare without inventing extra rules
Follow expressly stated colour wishes or other guidance. If you are unsure about a very pale outfit or a particularly striking combination, a specific question is more useful than a blanket internet rule. The hosts know the setting they intend.
Lay the finished combination out the evening before and check the weather for outdoor sections. Bring only replacement pieces with a clear purpose. This keeps the clothing manageable while preparing you for the actual stages of the day.
